Below, learn more about the Tyrant cancellation.
Set in the fictional city of Abuddin, Tyrant centers around the Al-Fayeed family. After making a life for himself in America as a pediatrician and a family man, Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner), the son of a Middle-eastern Tyrant, returns home. Despite wanting nothing to do with his father or his brother, he ends up staying after the passing of his father, to help guide his brother Jamal (Ashraf Barhom) as the new President.
In a statement, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions John Landgraf praised the talent behind the three seasons:
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to leave the door open for future opportunities, but if Tyrant never gets a season four, hopefully, last night’s finale, as Salke said, provided fans with a satisfying ending. The final season of Tyrant saw a drop in the ratings, and it wasn’t warmly embraced by critics, either — although the FX series often seemed to get mixed reviews. The network is known for keeping some shows on the air that aren’t exactly rating juggernauts – The Americans being a good example — but this season of Tyrant saw its lowest ratings yet.
